About the artist...

 

Dick Newman is a self-taught artist from Atlanta, Ga. He is a native Georgian who grew up partly in Buford on Lake Lanier. Dick's love for the oceans and outdoors show in his vibrant color display of abstract impressionist folk art.

 

He enjoyed a short-lived Punk Rock musical career in Athens Ga. in the late 80's where his band played in downtown Athens.

 

Dick Newman is an artist with unique influences that range from serious religious impressionist pieces to the silly comments of distressed characters in folk art format.

Dick's art will never veer towards mainstream. His work is a combination of unique ideas and brilliant colors that combine into one of a kind artistic expression that is always evolving.
